Sidewalk & Streetscape Services
Through the Safe School Routes and Transportation Enhancement Grant Programs, many communities are getting to opportunity to improve their sidewalks and streetscapes. FOX has the ability to provide designs complete with drawings and specifications, assist in the bidding process, and provide services during construction to ensure a successful and timely completion to any sidewalk improvement project.
FOX has been involved extensively with Transportation Enhancement (TE) Grants in the form of revitalization projects in Ripley and Ravenswood, West Virginia. The TE Grant acquired by the City of Ripley was a contributing factor for FOX to locate in Historic Downtown Ripley. With new sidewalks, old-fashioned lights, and streetscaping, Ripley was able to attract a growing and aggressive engineering firm.
When the City of Ravenswood received a TE Grant to revitalize their historic downtown they selected FOX to perform the design and preparation of construction plans for approximately 800 linear feet of sidewalk and amenities such as pedestrian lighting and ADA accessible ramps. Our services also included the coordination of the bids and construction management.
Not only did FOX Engineering perform the engineering services for the City of Ravenswood, we were involved with local efforts to raise additional funds for the project. By developing and supporting the “Buy a Brick” program, FOX assisted the Ravenswood Development Authority in raising funds for benches and planters which were excluded from funding through the TE Grant. FOX has also assisted Main Street Ripley and the City of Ravenswood with the funding applications, scope of work determination, and cost estimates required for future phases to be possibly funded by the Transportation Enhancement Program.
